Locals named as PLC student leaders

16th Sep 2025

PLC Armidale has announced its 2026 Student Leadership Team, with every position filled by a young woman of character from across the region, including Glen Innes local Molly Chard, who has been appointed Head Prefect and Guyra resident Kate Ward, who was appointed Wilkie Guild Captain.
The rigorous process involved nominees writing manifestos, delivering speeches, and participating in interviews with Principal Mrs Nicola Taylor and Head of Senior School Mrs Kate Clynch, before students and staff cast their votes.
Mrs Taylor said Molly is a thoughtful and exceptionally kind student who contributes to the College community with quiet determination and dedication.
“Molly’s leadership and co-curricular involvement are extensive, including her roles as both 2025 Dance and Athletics Captain, participation in multiple sports teams, and a role in our 2025 production of Mary Poppins, the musical.”
Mrs Clynch said 2026 Wilkie Captain Kate had approached school life with maturity and reliability.
“She contributes positively and works well in group discussions with her peers,” Mrs Clynch said. “Her involvement in sporting teams, including Touch Football, Soccer and Indoor Hockey, highlights her commitment to teamwork.”
The students will be officially inducted at a College service later this year.
